Kinja'd!!!

I snapped these pics on the freeway this morning. A man in his Model 3 straight chillin asleep while the car is on Autopilot.

Kinja'd!!!

I passed him first to make sure I wasn’t just seeing things but then snapped this quickly on a second pass. Y ou can see where I circled the top of his head with his chair back. Don’t know how long he had been or continued to ride like this as I lost sight of him when I transitioned to another freeway.

I think when you see someone doing this you are ethically obligated to brake check them, right?

This should be a misdemeanor at a minimum.

Many moons ago, I used to work with this guy that instead of full on road rage would whip out a can of Silly String and spray it on the offending driver’s vehicle.

Passive Aggressive behavior at its best!

...someone should bring it back...if they make nonflammable Silly String these days

I would report it to the Police. You have photo evidence and the guy’s plate.

You must hook up a train or semi horn to your car, and use it to wake them up next time. I know I would.

It’s amazing  how they don’t require these systems to have a camera system that makes sure drivers are still paying attention (like on SuperCruise or Subaru’s latest Eyesight). With all the crazy regulations we have with driving, it’s surprising to not see that.

Yeah. This. My theory is “legalize paintballing any car you see with a driver texting-at-speed or... asleep...”

A few dollops of bright red paintball paint should get the point across.

I came here to comment “10/10 would brake check”

if the car messes up and hits you it “sorry I saw a turkey in the road”

If the car stops him, it’s a nice wake up call for the “driver”

This is horrific.

That said, if I had a Tesla I would definitely take advantage to stretch my arms on occasion. My 20 years of typing on a laptop and 3+ now years of 2 hours in a car commuting every day has made my arms / shoulders sore on a regular basis. I do what I can to manage (I’m really conscious of my ergo position when working), but I think stretching and resting my arms for a few minutes in the middle of my commute would help as well.

I can’t even fathom turning around in my seat or “resting” my eyes.

Seriously, the name alone should be worthy of legal action, as it isn’t remotely an autopilot.  But the cult doesn’t care, and Musk gets away with everything every time anyway.

Throwing. If you get in front and release at 80mph plus they work well.

Back when I used to work midnight's and played alot of paintball I might have shot up a coworker's car on a deserted highway a few times.

Or, pull in front and slowly coast down to zero. I assume the car will match your speed, and when it stops you just zoom away leaving the dumbass sitting there snoozing. I’m pretty sure the next few cars that come along blaring their horns will wake the person up.

Right? You’d think the system would come with some kind of driver attention warning. Where if a sensor sees that the driver is doing some shit like this, it blares alarms at them and vibrates the seat to get their attention.

But this would be too much like right. In doing something like this they wouldn’t be able to call it AutoPilot. It’d be smart cruise with driver attention warning at this point. We all here know its not full on autonomy. But Tesla, no matter what they say, sold it as such to be able to say they had it first. And customers bought into the lies. Which is why we see dangerous stuff like this guy here and others time and again. Risking their lives and others.

Oh yea I’d do the same thing. With the commutes here in California I’d most definitely take advantage of Autopilot. But while I’ m stretching and resting, you damn well better believe I’ m at attention as well, just as if it were normal cruise control. Doing anything like turning around or resting eyes is just reckless and negligent.
